Dear Family and Friends,

How’s that for balance!

WORD
“Love the Lord, your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind” (Matt.22:37).  “Jesus said to them, ‘Can you drink the cup (of suffering) that I drink…? They said to Him, ‘We are able’”. (Mark 10:38-39)   “As He ( Christ) is, so are we in this world.”(I John 4:17)

WISDOM
Just as this man in China (above) has superb  physical balance, so also we need real spiritual balance in our daily thoughts and activities. But too often the self-centered world tells us “not to go overboard”, and to just “be like others”, influencing us to become content with mediocrity, and with “balanced compromise”.

But we are to compare ourselves with Jesus alone, not with others. His “balanced life” was one of total dedication, service, love, and obedience, even to death on the cross. He showed us what true spiritual balance really is. Let’s ask Jesus to show us how we can be “balanced” like He is.

A WORK of the Lord in Japan.

In 1967,  on my way back to the USA after mission work in Japan, I stopped in various Asian countries to get a first-hand view of different ministries. One of them was in Calcutta, India, where I was privileged to visit Mother Theresa (below) and got a close-up look at her “ministry to the dying destitute”, who were lying on the streets, hungry, sick, and alone. (Below)

Mother Theresa and her associates ministered the love of Jesus by bringing the sick and dying from the streets to a rescue mission (above), giving them food and medication, together with love and the Word of God. Mother Theresa’s life of total dedication to Jesus and to others, was so powerful and consistent, that the world took notice, and recognized her publicly. She went to the Lord in 1997.

Today, CFN-Japan Bible School wishes to flow in that same river of life and grace that flows from the Throne of God, by training students to be living examples of God’s Word in our spiritually needy world. Please continue to pray for many students to enter the new school year in April.

Standing together with you looking to the Lord,

Charles and Dianne Gyurko
