Used with permission Holy Land Experience Let’s look at a “sacrifice”, which is the 4th step in Making a Covenant. |
WORD | “Greater love has no one than this, that to lay down one’s life for his friends.” (John 13:15) “Walk in love, as Christ also has loved us, and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God”. (Eph.5;2) |
WISDOM | Since life is man’s most valuable possession, when people of old made covenants, they substituted the bloody sacrifice an animal’s life to represent the depth of their commitment to each other. In our real covenant with Jesus, we are not using substitutes! Jesus, by choice, became the one who was the slain sacrifice for us, His covenant partners! He has shown His commitment to us. Now it’s OUR TURN to lay down our life for Him, by joyful and uncompromising obedience to His Word in our daily walk, as we fulfill His call on our individual lives How can we do this? Only by intimacy with Him, talking with Him daily, and by reliance on the power of His Holy Spirit. |
WIT | Years ago, doctors would tell patients, “Your health is as sound as the dollar.” Today, if they told me that, I’d fear for my life! |
WELLSPRING | “Enjoying Haiku Insight-Out” Like a waterfall, Escalator coming down, Cascading people. | Unpublished Work Copyright © 2009 by Charles Gyurko | |
A WORK of the Lord in Japan. Obeying God’s commandment to “Love God with your whole heart, soul, mind, and strength…” (Mark 12:30), is not just filling our MINDS with truth and understanding, but also filling our HEARTS with a loving response to those truths. Classes at CFN-Japan Bible School aim to fulfill those purposes. Years ago, after sharing the truth about Jesus giving Himself as a Sacrifice for us His covenant partners, both teachers and students respond to this sublime truth about His unconditional love for us, by a moment of thankfulness and appreciation (above), followed by a life of commitment. The reality of His love deserves recognition and a response. Standing together with you looking to the Lord, Charles and Dianne Gyurko P.S. The photo at the top of the One-Liner was used with permission from Holy Land Experience in Orlando, FL., where Dianne and I took several of our grandchildren for an educational9 and enlightening experience, including a reenactment of Jesus’ Passion and Death, as shown in the photo above.
